About the network
Our vision is for a thriving and resilient food production system across BC.
ACARN is a network of researchers, government, and industry partners working to address climate challenges in agriculture through collaboration and innovation.
Our members are located all over the province and represent many agricultural commodities and research disciplines.
Together, we build strong research partnerships that create new solutions to grow a resilient food system in British Columbia.

What We Do
ACARN connects researchers and experts across British Columbia, offering a platform where they can easily access practical, research-based information. We also support collaborative research by helping members share data, knowledge, and resources.
Our team works closely with our members to support climate action outreach and extension across the province, develop tools that help share research effectively and, create opportunities for knowledge exchange.
ACARN’s activities
ACARN defines climate action to include research and innovation related to climate adaptation and mitigation.
Identify climate priorities
We work with partner organizations though advisory committees, workshops and forums to identify strategic priorities for climate action research in the British Columbia agriculture sector.
Establish interdisciplinary projects
We support applied research projects that are regional or provincial in scope. These projects often span multiple disciplines, commodities, and institutions. Our team helps with grant writing, finding partners, and planning for knowledge sharing.
Showcase new research, tools and practices
ACARN promotes climate action research relevant to B.C.’s farmers and agricultural professionals. We host events, create plain-language summaries, and highlight tools developed by researchers.
Training and capacity building
We offer training in research communication, knowledge-to-action strategies, and community engagement—key skills for turning research into real-world impact.
ACARN’s Governance
ACARN is led by the Network Manager with oversight from a steering committee of representatives from participating institutions including universities, government agencies, and industry groups. The steering committee provides strategic leadership and guidance to ensure ACARN’s initiatives align with its mission and goals.
We also rely on the expertise of our members and researchers who are leading climate action efforts. The Program Advisory Committee (PAC) works closely with the Network Manager to shape programs that respond to sector needs and support practical, action-oriented climate research.
