Agricultural Weather Data Network
Accurate weather data is crucial for BC farmers facing the impacts of climate shifts like extreme storms, unusual temperatures, and new pests. Reliable information helps them plan, adapt, manage risk, and explore innovative practices.
But current data is often patchy—making it tough for both farmers and researchers to respond effectively now and into the future.
Between 2019 and 2021, ACARN’s Climate and Weather Data Working Group identified gaps in agricultural weather data availability and explored options for better data and decision aid support tools for agricultural producers.
A gap analysis and roadmap were produced from this work and shared in a webinar.
New Tool
This work laid the groundwork for the development of the BC AgriWeather dashboard, which was released in 2025 by the BC Ministry of Agriculture and Food and Peak Hydromet Solutions. This tool features:
- Up-to-date weather reports tailored for agriculture
- Extensive historical datasets for in-depth climate analysis
- Advanced tools designed to enhance agricultural planning

Gap Analysis of Weather Station Data in BC Agricultural Regions
This 2018 report reviews weather station data in BC’s agricultural regions, and lays the groundwork for strategies to better support climate change research and agricultural decision aid support tools.
The project was led by ACARN with support from the BC Ministry of Agriculture, the Pacific Climate Impacts Consortium, and a committee of experts from UBC, UNBC, AAFC, and the BC Climate & Agriculture Initiative.
