About the network
Our vision is for a thriving and resilient food production system across BC.
Since 2017, the BC Agricultural Climate Action Research Network (ACARN) has been working to make climate research more accessible and useful for the agricultural sector. By connecting people across disciplines and regions, we help ensure that climate solutions are grounded in both research and real‑world experience.
Our network includes researchers, producers, Indigenous knowledge keepers, government staff, industry partners, and technical experts who share a commitment to climate resilience. Their knowledge and experience guide our work and strengthen the connections between science and practice.
Hosted by the Centre for Sustainable Food Systems at UBC, ACARN supports collaborative research and develops tools that help the sector adapt, innovate, and thrive in a changing climate.

What We’re Known For
ACARN connects researchers, producers, and partners across British Columbia to help climate research move into practice.
We develop clear, practical resources that support decision‑making and help teams share data, knowledge, and tools. We also coordinate outreach and create opportunities for knowledge exchange.
Our team offers training and resources that help early‑career researchers and sector professionals build the skills needed to share their work clearly and effectively.
By joining the network, you become part of a collaborative community working toward climate‑resilient agriculture in BC. Network participants gain access to research updates, partnership opportunities, and support for sharing and applying climate knowledge.
Climate Action Priorities
ACARN’s work is shaped by five climate‑action priorities that reflect the needs of BC’s agricultural community. These priorities guide our projects, partnerships, and knowledge‑sharing efforts across the province.

ACARN’s Governance
ACARN is led by the Network Manager with oversight from a steering committee of representatives from participating institutions including universities, government agencies, and industry groups. The steering committee provides strategic leadership and guidance to ensure ACARN’s initiatives align with its mission and goals.
We also rely on the expertise of our members and researchers who are leading climate action efforts. The Program Advisory Group works closely with the Network Manager to shape programs that respond to sector needs and support practical, action-oriented climate research.
