Request for Proposals: AgriVoltaics Feasibility Study (Ministry of Agriculture and Food)

Request for Proposals: AgriVoltaics Feasibility Study (Ministry of Agriculture and Food)

November 7, 2025

The Ministry of Agriculture and Food is seeking a qualified consultant or team to evaluate the potential for agrivoltaics in British Columbia—integrating solar energy generation with agricultural production on the same land base. This project is a major step toward understanding how renewable energy and agriculture can co-exist to enhance farm sustainability and strengthen rural energy resilience.

The study will examine regional suitability across BC and the compatibility of agrivoltaic systems with different crops and production methods. It will analyze the economic viability of on-farm versus grid-tied models and assess environmental impacts, infrastructure requirements, and policy considerations needed to support responsible implementation.

Deadline: November 13, 2025
